I was in the Netherlands a couple of years back and used a urinal that was shaped like a cartoon lady’s mouth. Which had the opposite effect of being somewhat off-putting! I’ve found a link to an image here. I’m not entirely sure that they were appropriate…
I seem to remember seeing these, maybe on European Journal (Deutsche Welle’s weekly news show that we sometimes get in the US). “Appropriate” is likely a personal thing. If it achieves the goal, then “appropriate” is moot. Besides, we all need to lighten up a little. I wonder what the toilets would look like in the ladies’? though I realize that poor aim is less of a problem with women.
