Rugby news from Down Under

OK, so this isn’t news from Europe, but I was in Australia and New Zealand during the inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987 and I saw John Kirwan play at a club match near Auckland. Phenomenal player.

From France 24. He has been named head coach for the Auckland Blues. Kirwan played wing for the All Blacks and was pretty cute (he still is; like most rugby players in the backline). He also received a knighthood last month. Well done.

I believe I was there with you! Of course, I wouldn’t have remembered all the details, but I still think about that trip.

Yes you were. One of these years, I’m gonna get back down under. Some of the places we saw have changed and there was so much more we didn’t get to. I’d like to do it before I need a walker or a wheelchair!

Tell me what you think!
