Multiple Mona Lisas

From France 24.

Swiss analysis, including carbon dating, has confirmed that, although the Louvre’s Mona Lisa is an authentic work by Leonardo da Vinci, it’s a copy he made of an earlier version.

Wow, someone just got lucky! I’m guessing its value has just increased quite considerably. It’s fascinating that they can even figure these things out.

I mooched around on the web and after seeing a half-dozen or so of the same (more or less) face and pose, I’m inclined to lump them all under the heading of “art class painting of a girl modeling for the group”. Slightly cynical, I suppose, but then I’ve never seen any of them up close. It could make for an interesting travel theme one day.
