A road dating from Roman times has been dug up in central Utrecht while building work was being carried out.
Ancient Roman ruins don’t immediately come to mind as elements of Dutch history, which makes the news even more cool, dont’cha think?

And more than we thought, it seems.
How fascinating. I had no idea the empire went that far north. I knew it reached into Germany, but didn’t know it went that far. I guess it was to keep out those barbrian ancestors of mine, the Angles and Saxons! 🙂
Or maybe they just needed some cheese?
