London Tube closures weekend of 29-30 March 2014

TfL is getting fancy – this week’s notices include some bus and national rail information and even some heads-up stuff on roads and those blue hire bikes (do I have to advertise the Barclays label??). Here’s the list of the Tube work for this weekend.  Embankment partial closure continues through early November and changes to Covent Garden thru mid-November also noted below.

Bakerloo line – Sunday only – Queen’s Park to Harrow & Wealdstone

Jubilee line – 11 am opening on Sunday – Waterloo to Finchley Road

District line – Saturday only – West Kensington to Acton Town/Richmond; Sunday only West Kensington to Ealing Broadway/Richmond.

Piccadilly line – Hammersmith to Ealing Common (this may affect service to Heathrow)

DLR – beginning 23.00 Saturday thru Sunday – Bow Church to Stratford

London Overground – Saturday – Richmond to Willesden Junction. Sunday closures – Shepherd’s Bush to Willesden Junction, Richmond to Camden Town, Queen’s Park to Watford Junction, Surrey Quays to Clapham Junction.

National rail services by Southern Railway out of London Bridge will be disrupted thru 31 March.

Hounslow buses  – Sunday, from about 12:30 until 17:00, will be diverted or stop short of their normal destination due to a local event.

Long term change concerning Embankment station – Bakerloo and Northern line trains not stopping from Wednesday 8 January until early November 2014 due to replacement of four escalators.

Long term change for Covent Garden station (this will confuse the tourists!) – Exit only until mid-November. Also, on Saturdays and Sundays, westbound trains not stopping.
This is to replace two lifts (elevators).

Road bottlenecks include Hounslow (the march that’s messing up the bus route), Wembley (the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy hoo-hah), as well as resurfacing work around Wandsworth and Finsbury Park.

And, if you were thinking you’d save some headache by grabbing a Boris-bike, you’re mostly OK except for these two bits – Islington Green docking station is part suspended until 18:00 on Wednesday 7 May due to construction work in the area. Bruton Street docking station is also part suspended until the end of the year due to building work in the area.
