London Tube closures for bank holiday weekend of 24-26 May 2014

I apologize for not posting Tube closure news for the past two weekends. Other things to do and have been out of town. I’m sure nobody got stranded because of it.

Here are this weekend’s Tube closures. Everything except for individual ongoing station issues are outside the bottle of the Circle Line.

Latimer Rd station is closed thru this Monday

Hammersmith/City line – Moorgate to Barking

Victoria line – Highbury & Islington to Walthamstow Central

District line – Aldgate East to Upminster

Jubilee line – late 11 am opening, Sunday only – Waterloo to Finchley Road

London Tramlink – Addiscombe to Beckenham Junction/Elmers End closed from Saturday, 24th through Sunday week on 1 June.

London Overground – all w/e – Highbury & Islington to Clapham Junction/ New Cross /New Cross Gate. Also Sydenham to West Croydon closed all w.e. On Sunday – New Cross Gate to Crystal Palace (stops running from 19.30 on Saturday). Also on Sunday – no service between Queen’s Park and Watford Junction. Service between Euston and Queen’s Park will start late on Sunday (8.45).

Information on road disruptions can be found on a new status update page by TfL.

There will be a fair amount of snarl resulting from a 10K race that starts and ends at the Mall. Tower Bridge opens for scheduled activity at 12.35 and 13.15. The feature I like about this update page is the interactive map. Hover above any of the yellow exclamation points to read about the issue and the area affected. In this category, perhaps aggravated by the holiday, disruptions are too numerous to list. I can’t tell which would be most useful, so again – click on the status update link above.

Reminders –

Embankment – Bakerloo and Northern line trains not stopping until November 2014 due to escalator replacements.

Covent Garden – Exit only until mid-November 2014. Also, on Saturdays and Sundays, westbound trains not stopping while lifts are replaced.

Bond Street – Central line trains not stopping until early June. Station upgrades in progress.

Gloucester Road – no Piccadilly service until mid-December while the lifts are replaced.
